SSVFX were a primary visual effects vendor on FX Networks “Shōgun” with our Visual Effects Supervisor Ed Bruce & Visual Effects Producer Nicholas Murphy leading an array of world class visual effects talent, completing hundreds of shots magically bringing 1600’s CGI Osaka to life.

SSVFX Visual Effects Supervisor Ed Bruce and Visual Effects Producer Nicholas Murphy received an Emmy award for “Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Series or Movie” for  Shōgun in 2024.

Set in the 17th Century, the story is told from the perspective of British hero John Blackthorne, a sailor who rises from outsider to samurai, while being used as a pawn in Japanese leader Toranaga’s struggle to reach the top of the ruling chain, or Shogun.
