Shadow and Bone

Shadow and Bone season 1 introduces Alina Starkov, a cartographer in Ravka, a nation divided by the Shadow Fold, a dark expanse filled with monsters. Alina discovers she's a Sun Summoner, a Grisha with the power to destroy the Fold.

She's thrust into the world of the Grisha, magical soldiers, and their leader, General Kirigan, who is also a Shadow Summoner. As Alina trains to control her powers, she uncovers that Kirigan is not who he seems, and the Fold may have been created by him.
